- Chiwax will re-release Spencer Kincy's seminal 1997 album on vinyl in October.
Gemini's 1997 album In Neutral will be reissued in October.
The most common of Spencer Kincy's many aliases, Gemini first came to attention with releases on Relief and Cajual in the mid-'90s, which established him as an equally adventurous contemporary to fellow Chicago producers like Cajmere. He was also known for his rapid-fire mixing style, which inspired many DJs, including Ben UFO, who spoke out about his admiration for Kincy in an RA feature last year.
Kincy's prolific output (which included four LPs in the span of two years) dried up at the end of the '90s, after a move to the Bay Area and reportedly strange behaviour—he's essentially been missing since. The Chiwax arm of Berlin-based label Rawax has been focusing on Kincy's material this year in a series called Gemini Traxx. Part three will feature In Neutral, originally released on Distance sublabel Substance and containing some of Kincy's more ethereal and melodic work. Though the reissue comes on vinyl, it will use the full 12-track configuration of the original CD version.
