- The Detroit legend will perform with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra this October.
Melbourne Festival has revealed its lineup for the 2014 edition in October.
As usual the 17-day programme offers up a diverse mix of music, dance, theatre, art, food and forums, with a number of colourful circus events serving as this year's main attraction. On the electronic music tip there are a couple of particularly special events taking place. Jeff Mills will be performing his Light From The Outside World live production with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, a work that he premiered in France back in 2012. Long-time collaborator Christophe Mangou will once again conduct the piece, which was co-written by Thomas Roussel, inside the Hamer Hall at the Arts Centre Melbourne on opening night, October 10th.
Also included in this year's programme is the interstate debut of Jonti and the Astral People crew's live rendition of The Avalanches iconic 2001 album Since I Left You, a performance which featured at the Sydney Opera House for Vivid 2014 back in June. The band will be hitting the stage of the Foxtel Festival Hub at the south bank of the Yarra River on October 10th through 12th. Berlin pianist and synth specialist Nils Frahm will be playing his first ever Melbourne shows on the 10th and 11th, again at the Festival Hub.
