- I Can't Give You The Life You Want drops in a limited edition this June, in collaboration with Mount Analog.
Blackest Ever Black will release a new compilation called I Can't Give You The Life That You Want in June.
Kiran Sande's label has developed close ties with the LA record store and promoter Mount Analog, and they'll be working with the shop for this one, which carries the catalog number BLACKESTUSA001. Fittingly, the label says the "tracks were conceived in a range of different circumstances and locations, and not according to any specific brief, but in spite of this they appear, collectively, to offer an imaginative response to Los Angeles shadow-life. These songs are not about LA, but LA is present, unbidden, in all of them. Across nearly an hour of previously unreleased music, the city's topography, its patterns of desire and disillusionment, are powerfully evoked."
Downwards-affiliated post-punk trio Tropic Of Cancer open the set, which also includes Blackest Ever Black mainstays Cut Hands and Dalhous. Dominick Fernow's Exploring Jezebel makes a contribution, as does 500 Stamps, a one-off "drone punk" group featuring Veronica Vasicka. Members of the psychedelic punk band The Brainbombs appear as Bremen, and freaked-out folk act Secret Boyfriend closes out the affair. Copies of the release purchased at Mount Analog in LA will include a cassette mixtape called Truth Or Dare.
