Simian Mobile Disco's Jas Shaw has a solo EP on the way titled Love Doubled.
The EP, due out on September 25th, is Shaw's first solo record. He's been hitting the studio while his Simian Mobile Disco partner, James Ford, has been off producing for various bands. It'll see release on Shaw and Ford's Delicacies label on vinyl and digital formats. We caught up with Shaw via email to find out more about the record:Tell us why you've decided to go it alone on this release.
Well, I've just built myself a brand new studio outside of London, and have been getting everything set up there all running nicely now, so I naturally wanted to test things out. And James (Ford) has been abroad producing for a variety of bands for most of this year, so I've had a bit more time on my hands to work on solo material while he's away. We're going to be back in the studio later in the year to work on new SMD stuff though, never fear.
Have you got any more solo material on the way?
Yeah, I've recorded 10-12 tracks in a similar vein, which will be seeing the light of day at some point. I also have a set of more ambient works, which I composed specifically for a gig I did warming up for Swans at the Roundhouse a couple of months back. They'll also be released later down the line, although potentially under a different project name.
