- Bear Funk boss Stevie Kotey will again team up with Max Essa for their debut full-length as Soirée.
Stevie Kotey and Max Essa will reignite their Soirée moniker next month.
The duo can also be found producing together as Salon De L'Herbe, a project in which they mix up blues, disco and rock into a Balearic mid-tempo soup, but Soirée sees the pair take a jazzier and lighter touch to their usual disco deviance. Zim Zim Zar Zar is the name of the record, which lines up with much more live instrumentation used than on the Salon De L'Herbe material. Essa even contributes his first ever vocals on "Day To Day Life," "Synth Inside Her," and the low-slung Middle-Eastern funk of the title track, while good friend Robin Lee from Faze Action has utilised his experience in recording live sessions by helping to engineer the album. With plenty of different tempos and flavours on offer, and an organic vibe that's lacking in many modern day disco productions, Zim Zim Zar Zar may very well be the ideal stocking filler for the Larry Levan obsessive in your household.
The pair are launching the record with a free party at The Horse & Groom in London on Sunday November 15th, which will run from 2pm through to 2am.
