- The Finnish experimentalists will release their next album this June.
Finnish experimental duo Pan Sonic, AKA Mika Vainio and Ilpo Vaisanen, will release their next full-length, Gravitona, early this summer on Blast First Petite.
Since their debut in 1994, Pan Sonic have specialized in dark, prodding electronic music that blends elements of techno, drone and industrial, and takes inspiration from groups like Suicide, Throbbing Gristle and Einsturzende Neubauten. Remarking cryptically on the new album, Vaino said "After this Pan Sonic goes into deep freeze." Whatever that might mean, the duo already has another LP in the pipeline, this time with Japanese experimental artist Keiji Haino, who played with Pan Sonic on the live album Shall I Download A Blackhole And Offer It To You?. Details on that release are still forthcoming.
