- The contemporary kraut-rocker will release his second album this fall on Smalltown Supersound.
New York-based artist Alexis Georgopoulos will release his next album this September on Norwegian imprint Smalltown Supersound.
The Soft Wave will be Georgopoulos' second album as ARP, the alias he dons for solo work. In the past he's played in bands like Tussle, The Alps and The Expanding Head Band, while picking up other roles such as drumming for the Boredoms and composing music for modern dance performances. Much like his 2007 record In Light, The Soft Wave is a breezy, down tempo affair that blends elements of kraut-rock, Balearic, drone and experimental pop. But while that record was recorded entirely with analog synthesizers, ARP's latest boasts a wide range of acoustic instruments, including guitars, flutes and even an Ebow or two, plus vocals from Georgopoulos himself on the song "From a Balcony Overlooking the Sea."
The Soft Wave will be preceded by a 12-inch for Pastoral Symphony, the album's first track. Due out this August, the single will feature remixes by Carl Craig, Etienne Jaumet and Swedish duo Studio.
