- Rush Hour has dusted off a batch of previously unreleased tracks by Lil Louis, Ron Hardy, Larry Heard and more.
Next month, Rush Hour will release Chicago Dance Tracks, a collection of previously unreleased songs by some of Chicago's most influential house producers.
All of the tracks included come from the personal collection of veteran DJ and producer Gene Hunt. Beginning in the mid-'80s, Hunt was one of Chicago's most active DJs, always playing at parties around town, often alongside Ron Hardy. This made him a go-to person for artists trying to get their music played out in clubs, and over the years Hunt amassed a serious collection of reel-to-reel tapes by then up-and-coming producers. Chicago Dance Tracks draws from this archive of demos, unearthing songs that even the artists themselves had lost. The tracklist reads like a who's who of Chicago house luminaries: Lil' Louis, Mr. Fingers, Steve Poindexter, Virgo Four, etc.
The compilation is the latest in a series of essential house releases by Rush Hour, following their reissues of Virgo, Recloose and early Trax releases. It will be available on vinyl and CD, with different songs included on each.
