The project features Actress, Dan the Automator, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs and others, teamed up Congolese musicians.
Warp Records have joined forces with Oxfam for a charity compilation called Kinshasa One Two.
The album is by DRC Music, a collective orchestrated by Damon Albarn that includes Actress, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, Dan the Automator, Marc Antoine and others, plus more than 50 Congolese musicians. It was recorded in the Congo over five days this past July. All proceeds from the album will go to benefiting local musicians and to Oxfam's relief work in the region.
"Every day in DRC there are hundreds of thousands of people who need Oxfam's support to access education, clean water, sanitation and basic hygiene," says Pauline Ballaman of Oxfam. "Not only will DRC Music shine a light on the incredible musical talent coming out of the country, it will raise much needed funds for Oxfam's invaluable work here and focus the world's attention on Congo once again, seeing it as a place of inspiration, creativity and hope."
The Democratic Republic of the Congo is home to one of the world's worst humanitarian crises: armed conflict leaves as many as 45,000 people dead each month, and the UN says it has the worst level of sexual violence anywhere on Earth.
