  • Sydney Festival have revealed their 18-day program for January 2014. Each year, in the height of summer, the harbour city becomes a hub for a wide variety of dance, theatre, art, film, food and music events taking place in some of Sydney's most iconic venues and locations. Always including a number of electronic music acts in the program, next year's festival will see the return of Paradiso to Sydney Town Hall with a couple of DJ-headlined nights. Modular Records will be hosting a party on January 17th in the Hall with Juan Atkins finally returning after a cancelled tour earlier in 2013. Several Modular artists will be on support duties, including upcoming trio Movement, Melbourne producer Roland Tings and local jocks Wordlife and Softwar. Future Classic will also be putting on one of the gigs on January 24th with New York regular Jacques Renault and Wolf Music's Medlar heading up a bill which also features the label's own Touch Sensitive and Wave Racer as well as the Future Classic DJs themselves. The Spiegeltent will also be back at Hyde Park, showcasing a broad range of musical acts going into the night. UK legend Andrew Weatherall will be back to play a set on January 26th from 11.30 PM, while other highlights include shows on the disco, funk and jazz tip with Donny Benet & The Donny Benet Show Band, Lee Fields & The Expressionists and Sinkane, as well as downtempo grooves from Funki Porcini. There's plenty more music scattered around the city over the course of the festival including the Sydney debut of local duo Canyons' 100 Million Nights collaboration with visual artist Daniel Boyd at the Sydney Opera House on January 21st.
