- The latest obscurity to be reissued by Andy Votel's label is due for release next month.
The Andy Votel-helmed Finders Keepers label has announced details of its latest reissue, a 1983 album called Tape Recorder And Synthesiser Ensemble.
The tracks on the compilation were composed on a homemade synth by Andy Popplewell when he was in his teens, making it faintly reminiscent of Minimal Wave's 2012 reissue of Felix Kubin's Teenage Tapes. The Tape Recorder And Synthesiser Ensemble—also known as T.R.A.S.E—was largely Popplewell's solo endeavour, though he sometimes called on his brother to play guitar.
Popplewell later went on to work for the BBC as a sound effects man, before pursuing a career as a studio engineer and tape archivist. One of the album's tracks, "Electronic Rock," is streaming on SoundCloud (it has also been separately released as a 7-inch single). Though the official release date for the album is November 4th, it has already hit the shelves at some record shops.
