- Pilooski and Pentile are teaming up once again for Swimmer, out later this month.
Discodeine will release Swimmer on November 25th.
That's the name that French producers Cédric Marszewski and Benjamin Morando operate under. You might recognize Marszewski from his prolific disco edits as Pilooski, while the lesser-known Morando doesn't have much of his own work outside of the project. Together they've crafted a handful of singles (notably 2010's Jarvis Cocker-featuring "Synchronize" on DFA) and one self-titled album on Pschent, which they'll return to for their second.
RA contributor Michaelangelo Matos called that first LP "ultra-classicist," comparing it to Chic and Cajual, but Swimmer is said to explore more varied (and darker) territory where "East and West are one," according to the press release. There's certainly less emphasis on guest vocalists: only Tame Impala's Kevin Parker makes an appearance, on first single "Aydin" (which you can see a video for below).
