- The Japanese crate-digger will return with a second album of sample-based disco and house.
KZA has compiled a second Dig & Edit album for Endless Flight, due out February 17th.
The Japanese digger, who also forms one half of Force Of Nature with DJ Kent, has a close affiliation with Endless Flight and its mother label Mule Musiq: as well as overseeing the first Dig & Edit record, he mixed two volumes of the I'm Starting To Feel Okay series for Endless Flight and the Stocks On Deck CD for Mule in 2008..
The inspiration for Dig & Edit 2 was drawn from KZA's formidable record collection, which spans disco, house, hip-hop, soul, funk, folk, rock and much more besides. The label says the album was put together in much the same way as the first LP, with KZA trawling through his vinyl library "between midnight and morning, searching for miscellaneous rhythms, harmonies, and melodies." He then began to cut and splice samples with some help from Kuniyuki, before throwing in additional rhythm and bass programming.
