- There's also going to be a new FlyLo album this year.
A new compilation of Star Wars-inspired electronic music will land on February 19th.
Star Wars Headspace—which was organized by superstar producer Rick Rubin—presents 15 tracks made using audio from the Star Wars films. It features a number of hip-hop-leaning artists like Flying Lotus, Shlohmo, Rustie and Baauer, as well as house and techno producers like Breakbot, Bonobo and Claude VonStroke. Norwegian pop duo Röyksopp also appear.
Flying Lotus, AKA Steve Ellison, spoke to Beats 1 radio host Zane Lowe today about how the project came together. In the same interview—which you can hear below—Lowe asked Ellison if there would be a new album this year, to which he replied, "I believe so." Below you can also hear Rick Rubin's solo production, "NR-G7" which appears on the compilation.
