- The trio of longtime friends will release a follow-up to last year's debut via R&S Records.
Nils Frahm's trio, nonkeen, has a second album due on R&S next month.
The band's three members—Nils Frahm, Frederic Gmeiner and Sepp Singwald—became friends while at primary school in Hamburg in the late '80s. They recorded two records under the name Übertonmensch in the mid-2000s, a decade before reuniting for their first album as nonkeen. The trio's follow-up, Oddments Of The Gamble, is "very much like a part two," the label says. It has many of the touchstones from their debut, The Gamble: "Pensive loops and melodies, sweeping arpeggios, post-rock jams and rolling jazz breaks." Much of the material was recorded in the same sessions as The Gamble. They left the studio in 2015 with two album's worth of music, and left it up to a coin toss as to which they should release first—thus the title.
Listen to the album cut "Diving Platform."
