Discogs has reached several milestones with its database, including exceeding five million artists.
The online music catalogue and marketplace, which is now in its 17th year, announced today that the number had been reached with the help of 355,000-odd contributors last month. Those contributors also pushed the number of labels listed on the site above one million and the total figure for releases catalogued to over 8.5 million, an increase of 500,000 since the eight million-mark was reached in January. This equates to an average of 26,000 releases being added to the database each week in 2017.
Discogs also recently launched a marketplace for its gear-focused offshoot, Gearogs, which is currently operating in beta mode.
