- The 84-year-old former playboy is looking for €26,000 to help fight prostate and skin cancer.
Tony Pike, founder of Pikes Hotel in Ibiza, is trying to raise money to help pay for his own cancer treatment.
"I am 84 years old, and I have prostate cancer and skin cancer," writes Pike on his GoFundMe page, which went live last week. "People think I am a multimillionaire because the hotel is sold. The opposite is true," he continues, before going on to explain that he needs "dendritic cells therapy ASAP," a relatively new form of alternative cancer treatment. At the time of writing, Pike has achieved €854 of his €26,000 goal.
Pike, a British-born Australian, opened the San Antonio hotel in 1978. It soon became known as a celebrity hangout, famously hosting Queen frontman Freddie Mercury's 41st birthday in 1987. In 2008, Pike sold the hotel to its current owners, Ibiza Rocks. Last year, Pike published a memoir titled Mr Pikes: The Story Behind The Ibiza Legend.
