Ricardo Tobar will return to LA label ESP Institute for his latest full-length, Continuidad.
The Chilean-born producer first landed on the Lovefingers-run imprint in 2017, when he put out the Liturgia 12-inch on ESP. While he's explored the intersection of guitar-driven psychedelia and a more streamlined, floor-ready sound on past albums (like his 2013 debut, Trellis), the label says Continuidad sees him leaping "from dance floor comforts and descending into absolute chaos."
The press release says the ten tracks are full of "epic chord changes, ascending peaks in arrangement [and] accumulating layers of grit that build into impenetrable blankets of distortion and feedback." It's Tobar's first full-length, following 2015's Collection, released on Cocoon Recordings.
The album is out March 22nd, but will be preceded by a two-track single featuring an extended mix of the album cut "Birds."
