Nearly 70,000 party people are expected to flood the streets of San Francisco for the Lovefest this month.
Formerly the San Francisco Love Parade, the Lovefest celebrates the end of summer with a parade down historic Market Street. Beginning at noon and wrapping up at around sundown, the floats will feature a diversity of dance music including breaks (Meat Katie, Lee Coombs, DJ Icey), minimal/tech house (Touane, Lee Burridge, Chris Fortier, DJ Three), West Coast house (Mark Farina, Miguel Migs), trance (Gabriel & Dresden) and house (DJ Dan, Donald Glaude). Not to mention thousands of freaks in fancy dress.
But that's not all. The Lovefest has evolved from a local daytime street gathering into a nearly week-long dance extravaganza, with plenty of pre- and post-parade events to sink your teeth into. Dubbed “Love Week”, the dancing officially begins on Wednesday night and continues through to Sunday evening. There's a range of parties to choose from, from big parties such as The Chemical Brothers at The Concourse or Lovelee with Lee Burridge, down to trance nights, house nights and techno nights around the city. With more than two dozen parties to choose from over Love Week, it's time to get ambitious. Check RA events for full lineups and details.
