- Young and a new comer to the scene is Steve Angello. His new Strange Fruit EP explores the realm of classic house beats and old skool flavours all the while keeping things nice and funky.
Side A1. Fresh Coffee
Taking things back a few years, Fresh Coffee is a refresher to the styles of Daft Punk when they were in their Homework era. Phat basslines, plenty of funk and excessive usage of filters, make this one suitable for a French house vibe.
Side A2. Oche
Oche takes it back to electro house, transferring the funk to the charged up bassline and breaking up the beats to get out of that repetitive four to the floor rhythm. This tune maintains a sassy appeal thanks to the sexy female vocal samples laced throughout. One for a peaktime set on harder dancefloors.
Side B. Close 2 Pleasure
After quite a long intro of house beats and muffled bass, Close 2 Pleasure introduces a guitar riff to the beat, in unison with the bass. It's a mix of rock and constant repetition of the words "Close To Pleasure" and features two very long winded breakdowns containing what seems to be a sample o a live recording. Didn't really appeal to me, however it is a tune that should get a massive following especially from the peaktime house massive.
