- Cementing a central role within Hotflush's roster, Tim Van de Meutter, AKA Locked Groove, returns to the label that gave him his break just over a year ago. Following the well-received Rooted and Keep It Simple, his third release for Hotflush takes another step towards a less warehouse-driven sound.
Heritage collects six new tracks across two 12-inches. "Do It Anyway" floats euphoric tones over a polished bassline, forming something similar to Scuba's post-Triangulation offerings. "Wear It Well" follows with a backdrop of 4/4 techno, while "Firefall"—a fixture of Scuba's recent DJ sets—is a spacious prog-breaks chugger. Heading up the second EP, "Nighttime at the Garage" finds the Belgian placing a ripple of tones over a pop bounce in a similar manner to "Do It Anyway," but with less success. "Dream Within a Dream" is a dose of rapture with its cosmic synths, before "Lost" completes an otherwise upbeat package with an introspective finale.
