- The next record on DJ Deep's Deeply Rooted comes from fellow French producer Roman Poncet, and it's his debut on the label. Opening Moment's four tracks show Poncet further sharpening the tough, analog style of techno he's been working on since his first appearances on Figure last year.
3/4 loops are common here. On "Lunacy," the most appropriately titled track, they form a spiraling, increasingly tense lead. In "AAD" they're a little more subdued, and across more than eight minutes they're overtaken by layer upon layer of drums and an outpouring of atmospheric noise. "Black Orchid" has its own sort of angled mechanical jack, with rapid-fire claps and other pumping trebles. Lastly, "Lord"'s searing synth riffs, coupled with some more tightly wound percussion, ensure that this very solid record doesn't relent until the end.
