- Minimalist 2-step with a hip-hop twist.
- The Italian producer Davide Piras has been making waves with some blink-and-you'll-miss-them 12-inches as part of a new wave of producers fusing minimal with 2-step and UK garage (think Harry Wills, Alec Falconer, Christian Jay). On "Grimer" he builds upon those earlier templates—the drums are swung, the chords poignant, the synth work restrained and bleepy—but the track also has a curveball. Midway through, Piras gives us a sub-heavy breakdown that could have been on a TNGHT record. This makes it one of the few tracks that fits in the Venn diagram between Hudson Mohawke and Evan Baggs' record crates.
