- Immensely satisfying EBM techno from Adam X and Maedon.
- "Human Replacements," the first single off of Adam X and Maedon's blockbuster collaborative album The Lion & The Ram, hits all the right notes, to the point that it almost feels like fan service. There's a bludgeoning kick drum with serrated synths that sounds like a steel-toed Nitzer Ebb track on a mission. There's a deliciously campy voiceover, this time taken from Invasion Of The Bodysnatchers, that warns, "People are being duplicated," a goofy take on today's doomsaying techno that feels refreshingly lighthearted without losing any of its physical power. But best of all is the chintzy arpeggio that loops like a Super Nintendo video game playing in the background, completing the retro feel with muscly sound design that could only come out of 2022. This is a lesson in how to do hard techno right—namely, keeping it fun.
