- The emergence of heartbreak hardcore.
- I don't think I'm alone when I say I've been waiting for someone to name a genre "heartbreak hardcore." Thanks to Violet and her latest EP, HEART/BREAK HARD/CORE, there's now a new tag we can add to tracks that pull at your heartstrings while rearranging air molecules with low frequencies. Just give a listen to the opening track, "Heart," which is the closest we'll get to hearing what it might sound like if Kode9 released on Kranky. Violet spends two minutes with vintage IDM melodies undulating across the stereo field before she introduces dubstep-style wobbles underneath a sinister and clipped percussive pulse. It's a track made for dewy-eyed dreamers and red-eyed ravers.
