- Contemplative bliss from the excellent Sydney club producer.
- With each release, Cousin finds fresh ways to breathe propulsive life into the typically airy textures of dub techno. The Sydney-based producer has a knack for crafting loungey, nocturnal tracks that feel equally indebted to burger/ink and St Germain. His new 7-inch for his own label Moonshoe, Rosie // On2, explores the darker side of his formula. "Rosie"—officially out in July—is slithering and inky, carried by a taut, percussive lead that weaves in and out of a trip-hoppy groove. "On2," the one available now, is comparably lively, thanks to its broken beat uptempo drums, pearly synth echoes and jazzy, reverb-drenched horn samples. Both are sophisticated, yet also springy—quietly commanding cuts that leave you in a woozy trance.
