- With core artists that range from Anthony Collins to Peter Van Hoesen to Efdemin, Belgium's Curle has always impossible to pin down. The latter turns up here with a track that might've found a cozy home on Dial Records. On "Farnsworth House" he builds and he builds, making the drums slightly more frantic as time goes on. It never quite opens up, though, claustrophobic in the same way as one his acknowledged favorites Robert Ashley. You feel like you're listening to house music from the other room. This muted atmosphere is made even more blunt on "Blount," a drizzling grayscale afternoon house track that comes up for air once around the halfway mark of its languid ten minute run-time. Rising up from the murk comes a ray of synth sunlight, disappearing just as quickly as it arrived. Patience is a virtue, and Efdemin and Kassian Troyer—his collaborator here—are virtuous men.
